Michigan PSOR supports quarter-mile, half-mile, one-mile, two-mile, and five-mile radius choices. The address form also needs a city, county, or ZIP. If the system cannot map an address, the Map Offender button can be unavailable. Correct the address or use village, ZIP, or county search instead.
A radius is distance from a point. It does not match a village boundary and should not be read as a count for Suttons Bay, Northport, or Empire. Leelanau’s irregular shoreline makes that distinction useful. Review the listed address and map point rather than assuming a result falls within a municipal limit.

Missing Leelanau Registry Records
An absent PSOR name does not prove there was no sex-related case. MSP identifies many lawful reasons for absence. A person may have a conviction that is not a listed offense, a juvenile adjudication, an older pre-1995 history outside current criteria, an expired term, a court-ordered removal, a set-aside, HYTA status, a specified single adult-victim offense, or nonresident status.
Check spelling, aliases, geography, and identifier fields. To understand a known prosecution, use the conviction county to obtain the court file. PSOR is a statutory publication system, not a list of every allegation or sex-related conviction.
Registry Profiles: What They Show
A public profile can show identity, appearance, address, offense, status, and registration data. Read the status definition with care. “Absconder” means whereabouts are unknown after leaving the last reported address. “Pending Out of State” and “Inactive Out of State” describe interstate status. “Tier” is a legal class tied to the listed offense, not a personalized risk score.

Leelanau PSOR and NSOPW
Michigan PSOR is authoritative for Michigan detail. The U.S. Department of Justice National Sex Offender Public Website adds cross-state searching. NSOPW helps when a person or address has links outside Michigan, but return to the source state registry for the full public profile and local instructions.
Searching both layers can reduce geographic blind spots without treating either result as a clinical safety assessment.
Registration Levels and Duties in Michigan
Michigan assigns tiers through the offense and statute. Tier I generally carries 15 years with annual verification. Tier II generally carries 25 years with semiannual verification. Tier III generally carries lifetime registration with quarterly verification. Reductions, tolling, juvenile rules, and out-of-state equivalents require the current Act.

Using Registry Information Lawfully
PSOR supports personal, family, neighborhood, and community awareness. Registry tools may offer neighborhood notifications where available, while MI-VINE serves a different purpose by sending custody and release notices. Neither system authorizes contact, punishment, or private enforcement. For a suspected violation, call the sheriff. Use 911 for an emergency.
Misuse is unlawful: Threats, harassment, vigilantism, trespass, or crimes against a registrant or family can violate Michigan law. MCL 28.730 addresses penalties tied to registry duties and information.

Inactive Out of State covers a person who lives elsewhere but works or attends school in Michigan.
Absconder means the person’s whereabouts are unknown after leaving the last reported address. Homeless means no fixed or temporary residence. School Only and Employment Only describe nonresidents whose Michigan connection is limited to those statutory activities. These labels are not new criminal charges and do not replace the court record.
