Terms of Use

These terms set the rules for using this website. By visiting any page, running a search, or reading content here, you agree to everything listed below. If you do not accept these conditions, leave the site and do not use it further.

NO FCRA USE. This website is privately owned and run. It has no affiliation with any local, state, or federal government body. Neither this site nor any of our advertising partners offer services meant for credit checks, employment screening, insurance underwriting, tenant evaluation, or any other use covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). We exist to help visitors find criminal-record resources in Leelanau County and Michigan. We are not a private investigation firm, and we are not a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is an independent private reference site with no government affiliation. It does not store official criminal records, retrieve records, conduct official checks, or file documents for a visitor.

Its function is to route readers to Leelanau County record custodians, including the sheriff, trial courts, Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, and Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry, along with clearly identified outside tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the site is conditioned on avoiding the following conduct:

  • Break any federal, state, or local law while using this site
  • Use information you find here to stalk, harass, or threaten anyone
  • Base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on content from this site
  • Try to break into our systems or gain access you are not supposed to have
  • Run bots, scrapers, or automated tools against our pages
  • Do anything that slows the site down or blocks other people from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information obtained here or through a linked tool may not be used to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. Michigan registry information exists for public awareness. Misuse against a listed person or household can carry criminal consequences and is never a license for vigilantism.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. We do not generate background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports of any kind. Neither we nor our advertising partners provide services built for screening job applicants, reviewing rental applications, calculating insurance rates, or judging creditworthiness. You agree not to use data from this site or any linked tool to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

If you need a background check for any of those purposes, order an official check through the Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center or an FCRA-compliant screening company.

5. No Legal Advice

General explanations of Leelanau County records are not legal advice. A licensed Michigan attorney should address how a warrant, charge, conviction, or set-aside rule applies to a specific situation.

6. No Warranties

All material is supplied “as is,” without a guarantee that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Criminal records can change through filing, dismissal, correction, restriction, or set-aside. Gaps and delays are possible. Only the originating court, sheriff, or agency can issue an official statement or certified record.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links can lead to sheriff, court, state, legal-aid, or outside search services. Those destinations control their content, availability, data practices, and charges. Their own terms should be reviewed before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Leelanau County Criminal History or its content partners own the site’s protected text, graphics, logos, and code. Reproduction, distribution, modification, or derivative use requires prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim liability for damage arising from use of this site, its information, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or proceedings caused by your use of the site or a breach of these terms, including allowable legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms, and a dispute connected to site use must be brought in a Michigan court with proper jurisdiction.

12. Changes to These Terms

Revised terms may be posted on this page and become effective upon publication.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or terminated at any time, with or without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue. The affected term is adjusted only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these terms may be directed through the Contact page.
